There’s NO Magic Pills, Body Wraps, or Shakes, that Will Give You a Healthy Fit Body

You may have bought into the idea that a certain pill, body wrap, shake or specific diet will give you the fit healthy body you’ve always been dreaming of. Sorry to burst your bubble, but nope, not happening. The only thing that it will give you is a temporary weight loss, drop in size, and false satisfaction of success. The very sad thing is, that many of these gimmicks are very expensive, work for a short time, and misleads many men and women into believing that they’ll get the quick fix that they’re looking for. What happens if you can’t afford it any longer? What happens if you slip from your regular wrap session, or worst you can’t get it anymore. You freak out and gain all that weight right back and more. Sorry, not buying it! Firstly, being healthy starts with a foundational good nutrition, simple basics, common sense, that when you really get to the nitty gritty, you are what you eat. Secondly, if you’re not exercising, you’re killing yourself, yep that’s right, you’re setting yourself up for a life of disease, injury and sedentarism. Which trust me, will only hinder your happiness in the long run. Living is about quality of life, not only quantity. Because living long, but being sick, is not only on you, but on your loved one’s as well. Choosing to live a healthy life, takes dedication and putting in the time. And yes, you do got the time, and it’s not expensive to purchase a gym membership, a good personal fitness coach, or nutrition specialist to help you get started. Remember it’s your life, invest in you, and YOU will be around to enjoy all the magic and beauty that life has to offer.

Here’s some of my tips to help you get started.

You don’t have to buy into a 3 month, 6 month or yearly gym membership. Start off with a 1 month trial membership. Some gyms offer a trial week. Take them up on it. Test running a gym first to feel it out, will help you make a better choice on the right gym for you. If that’s not the gym for you, you wouldn’t have wasted your time and money. Shop around, feel the vibes, go where you feel comfortable. Don’t get caught up in all the glitz and glam. Ask questions about what are their busiest times? Check out their parking lot, to see if they have enough parking in their location, to get in and out. Ask if they offer training packages that can help you stay motivated, get you started with knowing the lay of the gym floor, what types of equipment does what, things like that.

Personal trainers are not all the same. Do your homework, shop around, check out the gyms in your area and see if there’s inhouse trainers. Or find a personal coach that may do home training, field training or workplace training. Make sure they’re qualified certified trainers, have CPR and AED Certified, liability insurance and my biggest advice is to make sure you really have a connection with that trainer. If you’re going to spend time with someone and must trust them with your body and life, guess what, you gotta like them, and they gotta be able to communicate with you. If you don’t feel a connection or good vibes, trust your gut and go somewhere else. The other thing is this, just because a trainer charges a high fee doesn’t mean they’re the super star trainer. And the same goes for the opposite, just because a trainer doesn’t over charge you doesn’t’ mean they don’t know what they’re doing, that means that they’re staying competitive for their demographics. Also check their reviews, if they have any. If you know friends that have trainers, talk to them, ask them what they think, and if they’d refer you.A trainer must also relate to your personal goals and not steer you in a direction they’re interested in. Or when you go to a gym and the trainer’s ego is off the charts, if that’s the case, they’ll be into themselves and not you. So, move on. Also some trainers will offer a free session, take them up on it. You’ll know if they’re the one for you. If not, no problem.

Fitness classes, are a good way to get started if you’ve been out of the gym for a while, or the gym is not your scene. Most local YMCA’s or YWCA’s, local churches, universities and community centers will all offer some sort of fitness class. Try them, they’ll will be inexpensive, have many instructors and offer a variety of classes. Find an instructor that makes you feel alive, motivated, has good happy vibes, and most of all is knowledgeable about what they do. It’s important, because they’ll be concerned about preventing injuries, they’ll be able to help you modify an exercise for your specific needs, or not do it at all, open to your questions and approach able. Same as with personal trainers, if an instructors pushing way too hard, make sure they're ego isn't showing. Remember you're there for you not them showing off.

I don’t recommend purchasing high end fitness equipment to anyone. Seriously, almost every client I’ve ever had that purchased expensive fitness equipment never really used it, and it became a catch all. You’re wasting your money.
